Titles 1




This week we started looking at Title sequences. This week was a chance to explore how to incorporate text into an image and we were also encouraged to not use digital software to use text. We began the week with a workshops looking at text and genre. During the workshop about text we were given a number of words on a sheet of paper and given the task of presenting them in 5 different ways using only a photocopier,,scissors and glue. I struggled with this because we were encouraged to think about how we were using space on a page and because I am normally so dependant on being able to use different fonts and colours in software. The next part of the workshop asked us to go and incorporate these words into images. Where we struggled at first was with not simply placing text over the image and instead incorporating the text into the image.

Introduction to photography +;lighting workshop

We began photography by being sent off to the library to find three images that we invoked a memory in us. This was to help us begin to understand the process of research and how it was important to go looking for inspiration. After we had found the images we then had to present them to the whole class and explain what significant they had for us. I photocopied the cover the 'Polar Express' DVD, a pictures of some brownies from a cookbook and a picture of a book shelf. I have written an explanation for why I chose each of these pictures in my sketchbook.   After a brief introduction from Othello and Alys about their recent projects we were given a general overview on how to use the settings on our cameras before being sent out to try and take some photos. Week 7+8

7.5.17 What happened and what we decided to do Bank holiday Monday fell on the 7th of May.  Consequently we chose to film since it was the only day the whole cast was available What to do next time What I'm doing tomorrow Why I'm not annoyed because of what I learned/positives Wednesday Crit with Laura  Laura suggested that maybe it doesn't work because he's not declaring his love for Charlie/Maybe it shouldn't be in his head Thursday Too theatrical, actors are projecting their voices,thursday filming Week 8 Editing decisions Final outcome why I only decided to make one complete episode.

How my creative process informed my Final Outcome My final outcome is a 4 minute sitcom style pilot for what could be continued on as a mini web series. When we wrote out proposals I had initially started with the intention of making a series; however I didn't want to be married to my original idea so I experimented with different storytelling styles such as a short film, and different types of series. I was very keen on making something that focussed on putting class differences aside and of all my ideas the two I had that complied with this the best were A short film idea called 'This or That' that follows two characters who list differences in their upbringing as they grew up but the visuals show them doing communal things such as sharing food etc so they are gradually coming together and by the final scene they have found common ground.
